You’re not just a visitor,

you’re part of God’s family!

Where we’re located

We are located at 11609 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235, right next to the McDonald's and across from the Penn Hills Shopping Center. If you're taking the Parkway, exit at Penn Hills, follow Rodi Road until the top of the hill, then make a left onto Frankstown Road.

Our parking lot is around the back of the church. There's an additional gravel lot that overlooks Frankstown Road (by the stained glass). As you enter from the rear door, you will be in our Gathering Space, where people mingle and you can hang up a coat, grab a sip of water, or peruse the treats that will be available after our worship has ended!

What to Expect

  • Music

Lutheran’s worship is “liturgical”. “Liturgy” means “the work of the people.” There are no spectators in worship – we are all participants. The Pastor or worship leaders are not worshipping for us. Music is essential to our worship (hymns, parts of the liturgy, special music sung or played by individuals/groups), but you don’t have to be a musician to join in.

Our worship is contemporary in that it speaks to the reality of the world in our present day by drawing upon the great tradition of the church. That means our worship follows the same general outline used by Christians since the earliest days of the Church. While there are variations each week, the general order is the same: we Gather (sing and pray together), hear the Word (Scripture readings and sermon), come to the Table (to receive Holy Communion), and are Sent (blessed to go into the world as disciples).

The entire order of worship is laid out in the worship bulletin you will be given when you enter the sanctuary and is easy to follow. Expect to be greeted by others during the “sharing of the peace” in the middle of the service. Please ask any of our members for information or assistance.

  • Holy Communion

As Lutherans, we recall the saving acts of God through Word, bread and wine, and are connected with Christ and with Christians through time and place. All who believe are welcome at God’s table of grace.

Infants and those who do not wish to receive communion are welcome to come forward to receive a blessing.

  • Children

Children are welcomed and encouraged to worship with their families. at Zion. There are activity bags for children located in the back of the church

    The Prayground

Our sanctuary has a prayground for families with young children where they can worship in a more comfortable space

    The Children's Sermon

There is a children’s sermon just after the Gospel lesson. This short time slot is dedicated to communicating  a Christian message, often related to the gospel. We invite all children to come to the front of the sanctuary to participate!
Adults are welcome to walk up with their children.
